Bothered Soul

“How’s Ann?” Mariel, a Wowowee host asked James. Her face depicted excitement, as if she was expecting a very desirable answer.

He was told earlier to give sweet answers, especially when asked about Ann. “I don’t know!” He answered directly as he shrugged his shoulders. He was quite disgusted because the pairing was too obvious. Devon is just a feet away and he wants to assure her. After “the Buzz” interview that he regretted because Devon was deeply hurt, he promised to make everything right. He swore that he wouldn’t say something because he was instructed to. He doesn’t really know what was Ann doing because it’s Devon he calls and messages every now and then. 

He was watching himself on his handler’s laptop. The clip was uploaded on the web few hours ago.    

“What have you done? I told you to be careful.” His handler told him. He was obviously enraged.

“I was just being honest.” James answered and then he looked away. “…And I don’t really care.” He whispered.

“My goodness! This is showbiz” His hands drew something exaggeratedly in the air. “Honesty is admirable James but in this world you should know when to be honest!” He shouted.

“I don’t want to mislead our fans and besides it’s the truth!”

“You hurt them, James! And now, they are freaking out. This group is huge and immature. They could destroy you before you could even begin. And of course, Devon.” He sighed. “Welcome to showbiz!” He said firmly and then he sat down next to James.

“So what do you want me to do?” James asked as he dropped his stares on the carpeted floor. Of course, he got his handler’s point.

Joric sighed again without looking at him. “Have a satisfying relationship with them!”

He gave a humorless laugh. “They are mean to Devon…”

“I know…, I know…” His handler answered weakly. “…but we freaking need them!” He told James with eyes asking him to agree.

“I’ll try.” He answered with grudging acceptance after a few seconds.

The conversation happened few months ago in his condo. He doesn’t like fans. He doesn’t like the idea of being chase and photograph elsewhere ready or not. Besides that, he tried to be friendlier but the same group kept bashing Devon. They booed her while in a mall tour and while in Shoutout.

Unknown to the public, he asked the president of the fan group to tame their tongues. He begged them to stop bashing Devon.

They wanted his New Year to be celebrated with Ann. He agreed and now he is staring at their pictures. He and Ann are again one of the trending topics on Twitter. Their fans are now happy and momentarily forgot about bashing Devon.     

In the past few months, Devon suffered the most and Jaevons aren’t happy. The Jaevons in general are levelheaded people but of course, everyone has their own saturation. They are now disappointed because he seemed to be doing nothing against the attack and humiliation for Devon. Some of them became Samvon supporters and he could not blame them. For the longest time Jaevons are the giver group. Though they are hurt, they still think what’s best for him and Devon. Even hurt, they were calm and considerate. And most of all, they respect and trust.

He have not done enough to protect Devon from his obsess fans. He himself wasn’t happy about it. He brusquely sighed. The New Year stuff wasn’t even useful. His handler told him that some gems are now bubbles. He smiled bitterly. Gems turn to bubbles. It was cute but it was also upsetting. He loves the Gems. They are kind and thoughtful, that’s why it bothers him that they are unhappy.

James turned off his laptop. He reached his guitar and started strumming.  

“…And I don’t want the world to see me

I just don’t think that they’ll understand

‘Cause when everything made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am…”

He was singing with his eyes locked at the blue pillow placed neatly on his bed.

   DD ay si DD parin, na kahit papano ay mahal pa rin niya tayo at si MM.

  (baka ma-misunderstand yung last sentence ko...of course I dont know
   exactly kung anong nangyayari kina MM at DD. Weird lang talaga ako.
   Basta ang alam ko: once a Jaevon, always a Jaevon. Pero hindi naman bawal
   kiligin sa SAMVON di ba?)
