MORENA-Chapter2

-->
“ Franz, Can you keep a secret?” That was Dylan while putting down her book. They are at the library.

Frances stopped writing. “Of course! What is it?”

“I am not so sure about this but……ahhmmmm… It’s…Cedric…! She said his name in whisper.

“Waaaah Oh! You like him?” Frances asked in glee

“Nooooo!” Dylan firmly answered.  I don’t like him.  It’s just that…the way he… looks. It keeps me uncomfortable...” Dylan hesitantly continued.

“And…?” Frances said to encourage her friend to continue but her teasing eyes were still very evident.

“I don’t think he likes me of course… But he strangely looks at me”. Dylan looked away so she won’t see Frances’s face.

“I think he likes you” Frances was smilling.

“Shut up!”- Dylan’s favorite word when she could not think of anything to say

“You look cute when you say that. Uy! Kilig!

“I don’t know how or why…
I feel different in your eyes…
All I know is that this happens every time…
‘Cause, There is something in the way you look at me… ” Frances was singing

The bell rang!

“Silence!” The librarian yelled.

Both girls giggled.

------------

“Dylan, have you eaten? You can join us” Cedric asked when he saw Dylan passed by their table. They are at the school cafeteria.

Dylan turned to Cedric. “Ahmm! No. I’m with Ian actually. He’s… at the counter”. She answered with a smile.

“Yeah! You can join us, we’re waiting for Frances” Brannon talked. He was sitting beside Cedric.

“Ian and I will be talking about our research. We will join you some other time.” Dylan responded.

“I thought we’re friends. You are always with Ian. I’m jealous,” Brannon said while playfully looking at Cedric who was very serious.

“Don’t. Just really busy with research” Dylan felt minute guilt while saying those. Brannon is right. She was always with Ian. He is her partner in their Chemistry research. But he is just like a big brother. Brannon and Cedric are nice but she is not comfortable with Cedric, the way he looks at her makes her so conscious.

“You are weird. I think you’re avoiding me,” Brannon winked then proceeded to eat.

“Oh! Stop! See you later!” She walked toward the other table. Dylan seated purposely at the right side of the table to avoid his stares.

“I think he likes you” Ian was back, carrying their foods.

“Hmmmm???”

“He likes you” Ian repeated

“Who?” Dylan was pretending to be clueless

“As if you don’t know…Cedric of course!” Ian teased. Good thing she chose the table far enough from Cedric’s. She is safe. They won’t hear Ian.

“Noooo! He doesn't.” Dylan firmly replied.

“Well, I think he likes you” Ian was persistent

“I’m trying to stay away from him” Dylan opened up

“Why?” asked Ian.

“I hate his accent. He’s accent make me sick.” Dylan whispered the last sentence.

Ian laughed so hard because of that. Dylan joined him

“Right! But you should teach him Tagalog” Ian managed to say after laughing

“I did, simple words like kuko. “ Dylan answered smiling

Kuko? Great! That helps! ” Ian laughed again. “Sorry I should not be laughing at your Cedric” Ian candidly added, with emphasis on the word your.

Automatically, he got a hit from Dylan. “Ouch!”

Dylan and Ian cannot stop smiling. It was not difficult to figure out that these two really understand each other.

You are really pretty when you laughed like that. You should know that I love to be hit by a princess like you.  Ian wanted to tell Dylan those but he was scared to ruined their newly established friendship.

He has seen a lot of pretty faces but Dylan is different. She’s one if not the only one who doesn’t wear make up in class, but, she always stands out. She is nice and bubbly. She talks and laughs with almost everyone. She’s the only girl he always brings cookies that is specially made by his mom. But, she doesn’t know how dear she is to him. She’s not aware that, for Ian, seeing her happy is the best feeling ever.

She likes Cedric. She still doesn’t realize that, but it’s all over her face, and her acts. She smiles and lights up just by hearing his name. It’s exceedingly hurts, but he’s just Ian, her Chem. partner, a friend, the one who spills the corniest joke in order to make her laugh, he who listens and always enthralled to her every story. He is Ian, not Cedric.

Cedric was bothered. Dylan kept avoiding him. He really thinks that Dylan is one of the nicest people in the school. She’s very simple and never takes a crack at getting people’s attention. She’s pretty and always has the loveliest smile to everyone. He doesn’t talk so much but he is observant. Since Dylan talks to almost everyone, he wasn’t barred from her welcoming personality. She talked to him, shared some jokes and playfully encouraged him to learn Tagalog. Until such time he realized that hearing her laugh, gazing her every move and thinking about just by her became a habit so hard to kick.

SHIT! Of course Dylan isn’t a thick, maybe she figured that out.
Maybe Dylan’s avoiding him because of that.
Maybe she likes someone.
Maybe she’s in love with someone.
NO! THIS CAN’T BE!
He is James Cedric Reid, he can do something about this.

He glanced once more at Dylan. She’s smiling with Ian. SHIT! He seriously wants to punch Ian in the face. It’s not fair that they are laughing like that. He is at his best self whenever he’s with Dylan, and seriously he doesn’t deserve to be evaded.
