MORENA-Chapter5

--> -->
Cedric was in the bad mode. He didn’t care if he will look angry all day. His Aunt Portia just called. They agreed to meet after his class but his Aunt canceled it. This was the second time she did this. His father introduced her to him. She’s her mom’s stepsister.

Aunt Portia is the wicked stepsister of mom, he thought. She asked money in exchange of any information about his mother’s whereabouts. Cedric didn’t mind. He wanted to see his mom. It’s been a year since he stepped foot to the Philippines but there were no traces of his mother.

He was seating in the school cafeteria when Brannon approached him. His friend isn’t alone, as usual. He is always with Frances.

“Hey dude! Meet our new friend Dylan” Brannon said referring to a petite girl on his left side. “Dylan this is Cedric.”  Brannon continued.

The girl named Dylan was waving and smiling at him at the same time. “Hello!” she said.

Cedric nodded. Dark skin suits her, he noted. And, she’s smiling so sweet that became so hard for Cedric not to smile back.  This girl changed his mode so easy with just a smile.

----------

Cedric was right. She is at her favorite spot. She is sitting on the floor in front of her locker.
After he played sick she didn’t attempted to avoid him. He also showed that she could not escape from him. Every morning they are having their Starbucks coffee, he always bought that for the two of them. They conversed about simple things to their embarrassing moments. He was lazy before, he hated waking up early. But now he’s looking forward to every morning. He’s always excited for school. He’s just few feet away from her when she turns to his side and smiles. What a pleasant way to start this morning. The girl with a face that could launch a thousand ships is smiling at him. He smiles back.

“Good morning” He greeted

“I want my coffee” She played to be more concern with the coffee but she was smiling

“Kiss me first” He likes to tease her.  Her reactions are always cute.

She makes face and pouts her lips. “No way!”

“I’m being serious” Cedric said

“Ok I’ll buy my own coffee” She stood up. She frowned but she was still cute.

“Ok! Here’s your coffee!” He handed her the coffee.

“Thanks!”

“Don’t go anywhere on Saturday” Cedric announced next. They are both comfortably sitting on the floor enjoying their coffee now.

“Why?” Dylan asked after sipping.

“Something good will happen on that day” Cedric answered seriously.

“What is it?” Dylan asked

“You should bring me a gift!” Cedric responded

Oh! So… It’s your birthday!? She was shocked with the revelation. She never asked him his birthday.

He just smiled.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I’m telling you now”

“I only got two days. How can I find a gift for a person like you?”

“That’s your problem.” He gave her the invitation. “Come on let’s sing” He took the guitar from her and started to sing.

“…I remember what you wore in the first day…
You came into my life and I though…
Hey, you know, this could be something

“…‘Cause everything you do and words you say…

You know that it takes all my breath away…
And now I’m left with nothing…

“…Maybe it’s true, that I can’t live without…
 Two is better that one…”

This moment is so heart melting. Better than those movies she has seen. She is lost in his eyes. She could not think anything but him, them. She tried to look away but his stares are so hard not to reciprocate. He sings those lines as if she’s the only girl existing in this world. Magical. Enchanting. Delightful.

“Ahem! I think “There is something in the way you look at me” is way better than that! Grabeh! Ang titigan! For the win!” That was Frances

“…’Cause there’s something in the way you look at me
It’s as if my heart knows you’re the missing piece
You make me believe that there’s nothing
In this world I can’t be
I’d never know what you see but
There’s something in the way you look at me…”

Frances sang while dancing. They all laughed. Dylan is happy, he believes. Cedric is more than happy, and he’s absolutely sure of it. He is not used to pouring his emotions. But, he just did, to her, through that song. Indeed, He was change by this simple and bubbly girl. Frances is right. There is something in the way he looked at Dylan.
