MORENA-Chapter7

It’s Sunday morning. Dylan and her aunt Mardy went for the 8am mass and then proceeded for a grocery. That’s their normal routine every Sunday. But this is a new and beautiful Sunday for Dylan. Since she wakes up this morning, she can’t help to smile.

They are now on line at the counter and the usual Sunday long line is making her so anxious. Dylan kept checking her watch. She forgot her phone because they were running late for the mass this morning.

After seem forever of waiting, they are at home at last. Dylan runs up to her room that made her aunt asked “Dylan, you are behaving strangely today. What’s happening?”

“Nothing Tita. I just forgot my phone”

Asus! That’s bad. Cedric must be pissed by now for not answering his messages.” Her Aunt was just teasing her but she’s probable right. Cedric hates waiting. Her aunt knows about Cedric. She told her at the church. Her aunt was happy but warned her about a lot of things especially teenage pregnancy.

Dylan dived on her bed to search for her phone. She frowned when she saw her dead phone. She was already home before 2am yesterday but she can’t sleep so she called Frances and then Ian of course and tell them about the enthralling Cedric‘s birthday.

She opened her phone. 14 messages received and 18 missed calls. All were from Cedric.

--= It’s 6am. I remember you usually wake up at this time. What a pleasant morning..)
--= Isn’t it amazing? I woke up so early, cant stop thinking of you (..)
--= I already miss you, good morning! J
--= Time for breakfast! Let’s eat..
--= Can we see each other today? I wanted to go at your place.
--= What are you doing?
--= ???
--=Where are you?
--= Dylan!
--= Please pick up

She stopped reading and dialed his number. Lying on her back, looking at the ceiling, she can’t help to smile. A mere thought of him makes her heart swell and she could not track when this started.

At the first ring he answered.

“Sorry Mr. lazy. I went for the 8am mass and I forgot my phone. I am truly sorry.” Dylan pleaded.

But there was no response on the other line. Dylan knows he’s listening so she continued

“Please speak, Mr. handsome, I missed you, please! I’m sorry” She begged once more. Then she started to sing.

You know you want me, I know you care
Just shout whenever and I’ll be there
You want my heart, you want my love
And we would never, ever be apart…

Cedric can’t stop smiling on the other line. He loves it when she sings. She makes her forget awful things.

That's how much I love you
That's how much I need you
And I can't stand ya
'Most everything you do make me wanna smile
Can I not like it for a while?

No, but you won't let me
You upset me, girl, and then you kiss my lips
All of a sudden, I forget that I was upset
Can't remember what you did?

But I hate it
You know exactly what to do
So that I can't stay mad at you
For too long, that's wrong

But, I hate it
You know exactly how to touch
So that I don't wanna fuss and fight no more
Said, I despise that I adore you

And I hate how much I love you, girl
I can't stand how much I need you
And I hate how much I love you, girl
But I just can't let you go
And I hate that I love you so

And you completely know the power that you have
The only one that makes me laugh
Sad and it's not fair how you take advantage of the fact
That I love you beyond the reason why
And it just ain't right

That RnB song is his most fitting reply. Cedric was singing uninterruptedly on the phone.

Dylan listens, controlling her laugh. But she gave in eventually.

Dylan has a very contagious laugh. Cedric joined her shortly.  They brought immense joy for each other. Cedric is silently thanking God for bringing Dylan to his life. Dylan on the other hand wonders what great act she did to deserve him.

“I just missed you, your voice. Sorry for over reacting. But the feeling was hell, really. I even thought if what happened last night did really happen. Dylan whenever you go out, don’t forget your phone again. Okay? You scared me.” Bomo-boyfriend talaga ang Cedric.

“Okay” Her heart was touched by his caring words.

“Did I tell you yet?”  Cedric asked

 “What?”

“That I love you. Losing you means losing my life.”

Dylan fell silent. She heard that many times. It’s not even original, she wanted to blurt out.  But the intensity of his voice, made his sentence exceptional.

“Hey? Still there?”

“Yeah!” Dylan was crying on the other line.

“Are you crying my angel?” It didn’t escaped from the bionic ears of Cedric.

“No!” She firmly denied. And then he laughed.

“I heard you. Don’t deny it.” His voice is teasing.

She wiped her tears and smiles “Did I tell you yet?” She mimicked him as she silently laughed.

“What?” He was grinning widely

“That you are arrogant and lazy. Two things I hated most of people…”

“What?” Instantly he’s smiling face transformed into sour expression.

“…But you amazingly filled my life. That I cant imagine tomorrow without you. I love you Mr. lazy.”

Cedric is wordless. He didn’t expect what she said. No words could ever tell how he was filled with such elation. It is such a wonder that a simple girl like Dylan will make his life grand.
