MORENA-Chapter8

--> -->
She opened her locker. There was a black box wrapped in blue ribbon, her favorite color. She just stared at it for quite a while. There was no name on it but this is her locker so it is probably hers. Then there was a sound coming from the box. A phone was ringing inside; she quickly opened and answered the phone.

“Hello! How do you like your new phone?”

“So it’s from you?” Dylan asked

“Of course! Who else do you expect to give?” Cedric seems so happy on the other line, so proud of his gift.

“No one of course! Cedric, I can’t accept this… I have my own phone. I don’t need a new one.”

“We have the same phone. That’s the sensational iphone 4G.”  Cedric replied excitedly

“Whatever! I don’t like it.” Dylan wasn’t even pleased

“Hey! You don’t have any idea what did I went through to get that? I even bribed my sister. Come on, Dylan. It is just a phone. No big deal. We don’t need to fight over this… Please…Please!”
 Insistent Cedric appealed

”I know this is expensive…” Dylan could not agree

“It doesn’t matter, It is for you, Dylan.  Accept it and I’ll be fine…please!”

 “Okay, but...”

“Thanks! See you later!” Then the line was cut.

---------
Last night Leslie called…

Leslie: “Hey! Brother. Guess what. I already have our phones, those I reserved last month.”
Cedric: “Oh! The iphone4?!…send it now! I want to have it tomorrow morning.”
Leslie: “Ha,ha,ha! Okay! Sure!”
Cedric: “...And include your phone. I want the two phones.”

Leslie: ”Hey! Did you just say you want my phone? No way Cedric, no way!”
Cedric: “I need it Les, I need it, so please!”
Leslie: “How selfish could you get? Sorry. I can’t, I don’t, I wont!”
Cedric: “Leslie, in a month you can get yours again. I phone4 is still not in the Philippines. I need it because I’ll give it to someone.”
Leslie: “Someone? Is that Addi?”
Cedric: “It’s a secret.”
Leslie: “You know that I deadly want to have iphone4, Cedric. Convince me some more.”
Cedric: “I’ll pay for your next phone!”
Leslie: “Nice try!” Leslie sarcastically replied followed by her loud but fake laugh
Cedric: “…Or maybe I could ask Dad to give your car back”

Cedric knows her sister so well. It’s been 6 months when Leila had a car accident and since
then she was barred to drive. Leila missed her car and he’s so damn sure of it.

Leslie: “Seriously?” She asked in glee
Cedric: “Seriously! You know me so well, Leslie, Dad won’t say no if I asked it.”
Leslie: “That’s what I thought… (Long sigh) Okay you’ll have your phone…and mine”
Cedric: Yes! Ha,ha,ha!... Love you, bye!

----------

Dylan was busy with her notes when the controversial iphone4 rang.

--= Hello! Addi?
Dylan: “Sorry. This… is… not Addi” Reluctance was in her voice
--= “…Then who’s this?” The caller was a little rude

Dylan: “This is Dylan.”
--= “…And how did you get this phone?” She inquired using the same tone, rude
Dylan: “Cedric gave it to me.”
--= “I can’t believe I gave up my phone for you.”
Dylan: “I…” She was speechless.
--= “I really thought he’ll give it to Addi. By the way this is Cedric’s sister, Leslie.” She sounded really regretting.

That was just a short conversation with Leslie but she couldn’t help to worry. Leslie seems so close with Addi. She strongly feels that Leslie likes Addi for Cedric more than her or any other girl. Reasonable because they know each other longer, but still hurts a little.

It’s Friday. She survived the whole week of bullying. She didn’t realize that being Cedric’s
girl would feel this way. Most of the girls in the campus don’t like her for Cedric, they like the popular girl Addi more.

She didn’t know how the news spread so fast. It was just a week after Cedric’s birthday. She was just surprised when she received 3 letters and several text messages. All were demeaning, all were humiliating. All were rude. Amidst that, she kept her silence. She chose not to be reactive. She experienced her last pang of the week when she was trap in a school restroom for an hour. She was helpless with no phone. This was because she left her bag at the library with the very busy Frances. Good thing Frances came to search for her an hour later.

Unluckily, Ian had been absent for a week now. Certainly, things would be a lot lighter if he was here.
